It is used in a variety of nursing situations. The author will use this process to gather information from her family to analyze a problem within her own medical history. The risk for a disease is found using a genogram. Hypertension was determined to be the most prevalent disease based on the assessment of each family member and through her strengths and risks. It uses the strengths found in a situation to aid in solving the identified problems (Gordon, 2008,1). The health pattern that will be addressed in this paper to help with the hypertension prevention is the Activity-Exercise Pattern. Although the Nutritional-Metabolic Pattern could be used as a health promotion intervention, the Activity-Exercise pattern is a more realistic way for the author to maintain a healthy blood pressure. The reason in which it would be harder to follow the Nutrition-Metabolic Pattern for the author is that there is no access to a kitchen, meaning that all of her food must be prepared for her, making it difficult to monitor her food intake. According to Gordon (2008), the Activity-Exercise Pattern is important for the reason that it is â€Å"one of the major activities of daily living. When challenged by illness, it can affect nearly all other health patterns† (p. 45). Physical fitness correlates with lowering the rate of obtaining hypertension. (Faselis et al., 2014). Tyco Corporation Introduction During the course of this paper one will see addressed several issues of responsibilities that the Tyco Corporation must deal with. Some of these issues are ones that they have had to deal with quite recently. The responsibilities that one will see discussed are the legal, social and ethical issues that arise in a company that is nationally known. Legal Tyco provides products and services across the world. The company is global and diversified providing a variety of products including electronics, healthcare, fire and security services and engineered products and services. While employing over 250,000 people worldwide they grossed approximately $40 billion in revenue in the year 2005. In 2002 Tyco was involved with the corporate scandal where the management mis-appropriated corporation funds. The previous CEO Dennis Kozlowski was convicted in 2005 on 22 counts of the 23 that he was charged with. This is an example of not only a legal issue of responsibility but also one of an ethical issue that the Tyco Corporation has had to face. In the face of the legal and ethical issues that this mishap had placed the corporation in, Tyco placed Ed Breen in as chairman and CEO. Mr. Breen joined the company in 2002 after the scandal and immediately began the rebuild of the company’s name. It was at present no source of comfort to him that the efforts of his father had cleansed the realm of its leprous patches of rebellion and restored it to the peace and unity it had enjoyed under Stanel VI; that, as a consequence, in the twenty-five years of his reign, not one cloud of revolt had misted his burnished glory. The Emperor of the Galaxy and the Lord of All whimpered as he lolled his head backward into the invigorating plane of force about his pillows. Brodrig – the faithful favorite, who had to be faithful, since unless he owned the fastest speed-ship in the Galaxy and took to it the day of the Emperor's death, it would be the radiation-chamber the day after. Cleon II touched the smooth knob on the arm of his great divan, and the huge door at the end of the room dissolved to transparency. Brodrig advanced along the crimson carpet, and knelt to kiss the Emperor's limp hand. â€Å"Your health, sire?† asked the Privy Secretary in a low tone of becoming anxiety. â€Å"I live,† snapped the Emperor with exasperation, â€Å"if you can call it life where every scoundrel who can read a book of medicine uses me as a blank and receptive field for his feeble experiments. If there is a conceivable remedy, chemical, physical, or nuclear, which has not yet been tried, why then, some learned babbler from the far comers of the realm will arrive tomorrow to try it. And still another newly-discovered book, or forgery morelike, will be used as authority. â€Å"By my father's memory,† he rumbled savagely, â€Å"it seems there is not a biped extant who can study a disease before his eyes with those same eyes. There is not one who can count a pulse-beat without a book of the ancients before him. I'm sick and they call it ‘unknown.' The fools! If in the course of millennia, human bodies learn new methods of falling askew, it remains uncovered by the studies of the ancients and uncurable forevermore. The ancients should be alive now, or I then.† The Emperor ran down to a low-breathed curse while Brodrig waited dutifully. Just have it announced I hold no audience, and let the Captain of the Guard look doleful. The jackals among them may betray themselves.† The Emperor sneered nastily. â€Å"There is a rumor, sire,† said Brodrig, smoothly, â€Å"that it is your heart that troubles you.† The Emperor's smile was little removed from the previous sneer. â€Å"It will hurt others more than myself if any act prematurely on that rumor. But what is it you want. Let's have this over.† Brodrig rose from his kneeling posture at a gesture of permission and said, â€Å"It concerns General Bel Riose, the Military Governor of Siwenna.† â€Å"Riose?† Cleon II frowned heavily. â€Å"I don't place him. Wait, is he the one who sent that quixotic message some months back? Yes, I remember. He panted for permission to enter a career of conquest for the glory of the Empire and Emperor.† â€Å"Exactly, sire.† The Emperor laughed shortly. â€Å"Did you think I had such generals left me, Brodrig? In this day and age where Americans have a need to be treated as equal; equal opportunity employers, equal rights for men, women, African-American, Chinese-American, and every other group of people in this country, one would think that somewhere along the line children would get the message that we are all the same. Children should be taught to love, not hate. It is painful to see such a crime committed just for the mere fact that they were different. Didn't hate crimes end in the sixties? In my opinion, conversation and communication between two people depend on the characters of the two people. Sometimes the fact that people dont speak together might mean that do not like each other but it can also be a sign of harmony between the to people and therefore do they do not have to talk or to argue. This is the case of Kino and Juana. Kino notices about his wife that she does not look strong. Indeed shes dependant and she is inferior to her husband, she is extremely patient and she has an iron will. We see that she can also take initiatives far example when she says get the doctor. She looks weak and fragile but psychologically, she is as strong as Kino. The changes in the way of living. There obviously no slums in Brussels and certainly no brush houses but there are of course, like in all big cities, rich areas and not so-rich-areas. For example the way of living in Uccle is very different from that of, for example, Scharbeek. 9. The beggars know about the doctor. What do they know about him and how have they found this out? The beggars were always watching and listening and therefore learnt a lot of people in the town. What feelings sweep over him and why does he feel this way? He feels fear and anger obviously provoked by the fact that people of the doctors race considered people of Kinos race as animals, especially at that time (when Steinbeck wrote The Pearl). Fear because he was afraid that the doctor would turn him away and anger because it was not just. His anger manifested itself when he hit the iron gate so hard that he injured his hand after they were told to go away. Case Study A case study is one of the methods used in qualitative research. The development of the case study method took place in the 1880s and it has since been used in almost all fields of study. It is also the most preferred study method because it removes the wide gap between theory and practice. According to Toloie-Eshlaghy, Chitsaz, Karimian, and Charkhchi (2011), a case study is experimental and uses the details of a real phenomenon to probe into specific social issues of interest to the researchers. A case study includes a real situation with real people and events taking place in a real environment, which gives researchers a sense of the facts as they are in real life. In addition, the information used in a case study is controlled to provide factual details about the place, people, and occurrences of a particular location. This enables researchers to carry out their activities in reference to a real situation. A case study is thus regarded as an organized piece of research on a parti cular event with the aim of explaining a specific phenomenon. A case study is often used in social research to enable a researcher to actualize a theoretical idea. In addition, a case study may be used to teach research students how to undertake research in an effective manner and thus act as a study tool to integrate theory and practice. ... The main aim of using the case study research method is to describe the causative relationships between phenomena in real life, since it tends to be deep rather than extensive in its investigations (Breslin & Buchanan, 2008). Case studies are therefore also used to evaluate the effects of certain interventions introduced in given scenarios and can therefore be used as a tool to recommend solutions to issues facing organizations in real life. As a research tool, a case study is exploratory and descriptive, and provides case examples to students to enhance their practical research skills. However, the actual transformation from theory to practice requires diverse resources, some of which may be out of the students’ reach. The use of a case s tudy in the description of phenomena in real life is limited to the knowledge of the scenario under study (Toloie-Eshlaghy, Chitsaz, Karimian, & Charkhchi, 2011). This is because a case study relies on information regarding particular phenomena to draw inferences on causal relations, but without adequate information, the case study would not be effective.
